Pumptron, a pump distributor in South Africa, was founded in 1986 as a close corporation and registered as a private company in 1995. Gorman-Rupp Africa (Proprietary) Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of The Gorman-Rupp Company, acquired one hundred percent of Pumptron in September 2012. The company’s representation covers South Africa and all the countries included in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Gorman-Rupp Africa has branches in Johannesburg, Durban and Cape Town and employs more than 40 full-time staff members. A comprehensive network of distributors services other centers in South Africa and Sub-Saharan Africa. Substantial growth is anticipated as it expands its reach into the countries of the Sub-Sahara; most recently that has included distribution agreements in Nigeria, Kenya, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe. This region has many opportunities as infrastructure projects are being funded to help develop the economies of the individual countries. Gorman-Rupp Africa is focused on increasing its sales of value-added products for the African market backed by the Gorman-Rupp brand.
